Dentures Deserve Specialists

Denture Repairs 2What do you do if your denture breaks?  Where do you go if your denture is loose or needs replacing? Where do you go to get the best quality product and most timely service?  One of the most important questions to ask is “Who to trust with your dentures?”

Dental prosthetists (DPs) are recognised health professionals who specialise in the construction and insertion of removable dentures — complete dentures, partial dentures, immediate dentures and over dentures.  A DP must complete many years of studies in order to provide you a denture that not only suits your individual smile but functions with your natural bite.

A DP is also trained to provide denture relines, rebases, soft liners, tissue conditioners and repairs.  They are also trained to provide advice on maintaining the health of your oral environment and the appearance of your dentures. In short, DPs are denture specialists.

Denture RepairsDPs use skill, combined with a focus on individualised service, to provide a first-rate denture product. They work with patients directly, performing consultations, taking preliminary and final impressions, taking bite registrations, assessing the try-in and making any adjustments.

As well, the lab work — including making customised impression trays, building aesthetic try-in models and processing — is performed on-site by the DP. The benefit of such expertise to you, the denture patient, is that each denture will be individually and skilfully crafted to fit your unique mouth and appearance.

Some people are still under the misconception that they must see a dentist before they can visit a DP; however, DPs provide their services directly to the public.  Patients do not need a referral to make an appointment with a DP for a consultation. Most denture clinics also accept most dental insurance coverage. DPs provide their services for reasonable costs, since there is no “middle man”.  A DP conducts all the work on-site, which results in a more affordable denture for the denture wearer.

Decisions you make about who make your denture will have long-lasting effects on your health, well being and quality of life. Take time to ask questions, make sure you feel comfortable with the DP. If you do this, you will be best prepared to choose the right DP to service all your denture needs for years to come.
